KQED School Services presents its ongoing series, Bay Area Mosaic, professional development workshops designed to help teachers integrate ethnic studies and diversity content into the curriculum and classrooms.  Mosaic presents these educational themes by using KQED and PBS films to enhance learning and teaching, with an emphasis in social studies and language arts.

Come join us for a workshop celebrating Latino Heritage Month and learn about new media resources for teaching and learning about Latino-related content.  The workshop will feature the following films:

  • The Bronze Screen: 100 Years of the Latino Image in Hollywood: This film examines the history of the screen image of Latinos as well as their contributions to the Hollywood motion picture industry. 
  • La Ciudad: The City: This film pays tribute to the struggles and hopes of a group of new Latin American immigrants facing the harsh realities of urban America.

For 6-12th grade teachers (multiple subject teachers are encouraged to attend)

Lunch provided 

Education resources including classroom activites and films available for all participants

Pre-registration is required, available space is limited

Bay Area Mosaic lesson plans are available online
